On Tuesday, July 29, the Australian men’s cricket team made history. They are the first team to win a five-match T20I series 5-0 against a Test-playing nation.
From July 21 to 29, the 2021 T20 World Cup champions played a five-match T20I series against the West Indies. Mitchell Marsh led the team to victory in all five games.
Teams have won bilateral T20I series 4-1 against Test-playing nations before. Australia is the first to win all five matches in a five-match T20I series against a Test-playing nation.
The first T20I match was played between New Zealand and Australia in Auckland on February 17, 2005. The first five-match T20I bilateral series was played between New Zealand and England in November 2019.
India beat New Zealand 5-0 in a five-match T20I series in New Zealand in January and February 2020. But India won the third and fourth T20Is in the super over.
In the five-match T20I series against the West Indies, Tim David (37-ball century in the 3rd T20I), Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Owen (fifty on T20I debut), Josh Inglis, and Cameron Green had good batting performances. Ben Dwarshuis, Adam Zampa, and Nathan Ellis were the bowlers of the day.

In the fifth T20I, the Aussies bowled out the West Indies for 170 in 19.4 overs. Only Shimron Hetmyer (52 from 31 balls) got runs for the West Indies. Dwarshuis took three wickets but went for 41 in four overs.
Ellis also took two wickets for 32 in 3.4 overs for the visitors. Aaron Hardie, Sean Abbott, Maxwell, and Zampa each took one wicket.
In the 171-run chase, Owen scored the most runs for Mitchell Marsh’s team. He scored 37 from 17 balls at No. 6. Tim David scored 30 from 12 balls. Australia finished 173/7 in 17 overs. All-rounder Green, who was the Player of the Series, also scored 32 from 18 balls.
