In a profound change, Travis Head has been detached from Australia’s T20I roster against India to get himself ready for the upcoming Ashes series. Thus, according to cricket.com.au, Head will not take part in the last two T20Is or the South Australia’s Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania.
Travis Head no more in two last T20Is matches against India
The dashing batsman Travis Head has been a vital player of the Australian team in all three formats. In addition to being the opener for limited-overs games, he is the one in Tests who bats at the crucial fifth position for Australia.
While Travis Head is usually part of Australia’s T20I setup, the batter was offered the option to pick between the remaining T20 matches against India and a Sheffield Shield match. With the England series coming soon, Head seemed to have no doubt in the decision to skip the T20s and practice his red-ball skills during a decisive pre-Ashes training session against Tasmania.
The 31-year-old had a disappointing series with the bat in the India series. After scoring just 65 runs in three innings with an average of 21.67 in the ODI leg, Head could manage only 34 runs with an average of 17 in the T20I series before he was lett off. It is likely that either Matthew Short or Josh Philippe will take his place as Mitchell Marsh’s partner at the top in the rest of the games.

Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott to play for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield
India’s T20Is are nowhere near the end for the two-best-said pacers of the world Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott along with Travis Head. The two speed stars will, however, partake in the crucial Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and Victoria taking place at the SCG.
Hazlewood was, in fact, going to play in the first two T20Is anyway, while Abbott was going to be with the limited-overs squad till the third T20I at Bellerive Oval, where his exit will allow the entry of Ben Dwarshuis, who might be paired with Nathan Ellis to lead the Australian pace attack from the fourth T20I onwards.
Tanveer Sangha too has been pulled out of the Australian squad to play in the One-Day Cup for New South Wales, but the leg-spinner will be back with the national squad before the fourth T20I of the series in Gold Coast.
