In the upcoming Global Super League 2025, Dubai Capitals will play against Central Districts in the Match 1 of the tournament. The Districts won New Zealand’s premier T20 tournament, Super Smash, by beating Canterbury in the final. On the other hand, the Capitals won their maiden International League T20, the UAE-based tournament, by beating Desert Vipers in the final. Both teams are looking to make a winning start.
Talking about the tournament, this is the second edition of the GSL. The first season was played last year, in Guyana, with Bangladesh Premier League side Rangpur Riders winning the title. They beat Cricket Australia’s state association side, Victoria in the final. The defending champions have qualified because of their last year’s performance. They lost the Eliminator of the BPL 2025 against Khulna Tigers.
Apart from Riders, Districts and Capitals, Big Bash League holders Hobart Hurricanes and Guyana Amazon Warriors, who are former Caribbean Premier League champions and hosts, have qualified for the tournament. Five teams will play each other in the single round-robin format. The top two teams will qualify for the final on July 19.
