The Super Giants are riding high after their recent victory against the Gujarat Titans, so they’ll be heading into their next match against the Chennai Super Kings with a bit of confidence. The Super Kings have been struggling lately, so LSG’s got the upper hand.
In their last game at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium, the pitch played a bit slow at first, but it really came alive for the batters during the second innings. Lucknow’s pitch has shown itself to be quite interesting so far. In the three matches played there, we’ve seen a 200-plus total successfully defended, a chase of over 180 that came down to the wire, and a comfortable finish for a team that chased down a 170-plus target with three overs to spare. If we look at the last match, the older ball held onto the surface as the pitch dried out in the sun, which slowed things down. When the lights came on, the ball zipped through nicely, and that’s probably how Monday’s evening match will play out too.

So far in this season, the Super Giants have struggled a bit when it comes to defending totals, losing both games they’ve played that way. On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings aren’t known for their strong chasing ability right now, especially since their batters aren’t in top form either. After their lackluster performance last Friday, it’s clear that CSK has some big questions to answer. Even with a pitch that tends to grip, it’s still a solid surface for batting.

If the situation allows, batting first and putting runs on the board could work out well for the Super Kings, but considering how their players are performing at the moment, that’s easier said than done!
