With Asia Cup 2025 just a few weeks away, it’s uncertain. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has a meeting on July 24 in Dhaka, Bangladesh but India won’t be attending.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with some other cricket boards is thinking of skipping the meeting. Sources say BCCI told ACC and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi that India won’t attend if it’s in Dhaka. They have made this decision because of the strained political situation between India and Bangladesh.
India isn’t the only one. Sri Lanka, Oman and Afghanistan have also refused to go to the meeting in Dhaka, reportedly. These boards have concerns about having the meeting in Bangladesh. Despite the opposition, ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is insisting on keeping the venue as is.
A source told India Today that BCCI asked for a different place to meet but ACC hasn’t replied. If important members like India don’t attend, any decisions taken at the meeting won’t be valid, according to ACC rules.
The source said BCCI has clearly told ACC and Naqvi its stand. They have also asked for a change in the venue but haven’t got a response yet.

Asia Cup 2025 scheduled for September might be delayed or cancelled if this issue isn’t resolved. Sources say Naqvi’s insistence on having the meeting in Dhaka is seen as an attempt to put pressure on India regarding tournament issues.
With just 5 days to go for the meeting, ACC hasn’t said if there will be any changes. Since there is no solution in sight, Asia Cup 2025 is still in doubt.
India and Pakistan haven’t played a series against each other in over 10 years. Their last full series was in 2012-13 and India last visited Pakistan in 2005-06. Because of security concerns, India has refused to play in Pakistan for recent events like 2023 Asia Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy.
Instead India played matches at neutral venues while Pakistan came to India for 2023 ODI World Cup. Now both countries have agreed to play each other only at neutral venues in future tournaments.
