SLC is looking to host a white ball series with India in early August, taking advantage of a rare window in both teams’ schedules. They will finalize things this week at the ICC meetings in Singapore.
This comes after the BCB and BCCI agreed to move their white ball series (3 ODIs and 3 T20Is) from August 2025 to September 2026 due to security issues in a neighboring country.
India’s tour of Bangladesh was supposed to start on August 17 after their 5 Test series against England which ends on August 4.
A senior SLC official told www.telecomasia.net, We’ve heard good things so far. We’ll talk more in Singapore during the ICC meeting. We should have a final answer in a few days.
If it happens, it will be in Colombo and Kandy. The first plan was 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is but now they will focus on T20s to get ready for the ICC T20 World Cup in February-March which India and Sri Lanka are hosting together.
This opportunity arose after the Lanka Premier League (LPL) which was first scheduled for August was pushed back. At the same time India and Bangladesh decided to postpone their 6 match series which freed up time for SLC to use.

Sri Lanka recently lost a T20 series to Bangladesh 2-1 which was their first loss to them in this format. So captain Charith Asalanka is asking the board for more good cricket before the World Cup.
Asalanka said, A few spots are still open and we need to play competitive cricket. We need to be ready for the World Cup.
Indian fans were also sad to see the Bangladesh tour postponed as it delayed the international return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who are only playing ODIs now. If SLC can arrange some ODIs it will be earlier than October (when India plays Australia) for their return.
