But, after the series where India defeated Sri Lanka by 97 runs in the final, Athapaththu had some tough news.

Athapaththu admitted to the mistake to the match referee, Michelle Ferera, and so a formal hearing was dispensed with. The umpires on the field for the match, Anna Harris and Dedunu de Silva, along with several other officials, were responsible for laying the charge.
A level one offence, in general, could warrant a fine of half the player’s match fee or less and maybe one or two demerit points, depending on the referee.”
