Matthew Hayden, the legendary Australian cricketer, wasn’t too happy with Danny Morrison jinxing RCB batter Jitesh Sharma during an IPL 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings. Jitesh had just hit a four and a six after coming in at No. 6 when Morrison, who was commentating with Hayden, mentioned that RCB seemed on track for a score around 200, which would be tough to chase in the tricky conditions at Chepauk. Just like that, Jitesh, who was on 12 runs, got caught by Ravindra Jadeja while trying to hit another boundary in the 18th over.
Morrison remarked, “Is it true that RCB has only won here once, way back in 2008? That’s wild! With their batting lineup, you’d think they’d bat first and set a big target… but this looks promising tonight.” In response, Hayden jokingly said, “Oh, just shut up! They were doing great!” This had Deep Dasgupta laughing, adding, “Maybe you should, Morrison.”
In the end, Morrison’s prediction about RCB’s score held true as they finished at 196/7 in their 20 overs, a target too high for CSK to chase. This marked RCB’s second win in a row, keeping them at the top of the standings. Captain Rajat Patidar stood out with 51 off 32 balls, while Tim David added valuable runs with a quick 22 off just 8 balls. Josh Hazlewood led RCB’s bowling attack, taking 3 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs, as CSK managed to score only 146/8. Yash Dayal and Liam Livingstone also contributed with a couple of wickets each, while veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar had figures of 1/20.
Next up for RCB is their first home match of the season against former champs Gujarat Titans on April 2, while CSK will head to Guwahati to take on Rajasthan Royals on Sunday.
