The 14-year-old cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been in the limelight ever since he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for RS 1.10 Crores at IPL auctions. Then there was this moment where he etched his name in the annals of history, scoring the youngest hundred in the Indian Premier League, clinching his maiden century against the Chennai Super Kings. Since that day, he has become one of the mainstays in the batting lineup of the team.
Balancing cricket with school has been very difficult for him. There were rumors flying around on social media that he had failed the 10th Standard board exams. These were rumors that had emanated from a post from a fan page called Satirelogy which had taken the liberty to joke about Vaibhav’s supposed failure. Sadly, the joke was taken seriously by a huge number of viewers, leading to a lot of online chatter. The post jokingly suggested that the BCCI wanted a “DRS-style review” of Vaibhav’s exam papers to check for errors in grading. Although the whole thing was a joke, many people were thrown off by it.
The fact is that Vaibhav is currently just a Class 8 student at Modesty School in Tajpur, Bihar; therefore the whole idea of him failing 10th grade is just a gross lie. Born on March 27, 2011, at the village of Tajpur in Bihar, Vaibhav started cricketing at the tender age of four under his father’s coaching.
By the time he was nine, he was training at a cricketing academy in Samastipur, where his abilities took center stage. At 12, he created a sensation by scoring 400 runs in five matches in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. In January 2024, he created history once again when he made his first-class debut for Bihar, becoming the second-youngest player in the Ranji Trophy’s history.
