CSK is interested in getting Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals. But so far, they haven’t spoken to the Royals’ management.
A CSK official told Cricbuzz that they are thinking of getting Samson but haven’t decided which player to trade for him. Cricbuzz also says other teams are interested in Samson.
The official said, We are considering Sanju because he is an Indian batter who can keep wickets and open. Details of the trade aren’t set because talks are in early stages. We haven’t decided who to trade because it’s early. But yes, we are interested in principle, he added.
CSK doesn’t trade players often in the IPL. Robin Uthappa was traded from Rajasthan Royals before the 2021 season.
The trading window is open now so we will have to wait and see if CSK reaches out to the RR management. There are rumors other teams are also interested in Samson.
Under Samson’s leadership, RR finished 9th in the IPL 2025 rankings. They won 4 and lost 10. Even with a strong team, the Royals didn’t make it to the playoffs.
Samson, who was injured and missed some early games scored 285 runs in 9 games, averaging 35.62. His strike rate was above 140, highest score of 66.

He started the tournament as an impact sub. When he returned as captain, he had a side strain and missed 5 games. Riyan Parag was the captain in his absence. There were also rumors that Samson doesn’t get along with coach Rahul Dravid but Dravid dismissed those claims.
Dravid told reporters, I don’t know where these reports are coming from. Sanju and I are fine.
“Sometimes when you lose and things don’t go as planned you face criticism. We accept feedback on our performance but we can’t respond to this kind of baseless stuff,” he said.
