PBKS meet MI today at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Having been the last league game for both IPL teams, 2025 means everything to them; both to finish in the top two for increased chances in playoffs.
Under new captain Shreyas Iyer, PBKS seem to have taken on a new route. The team has made the IPL playoffs for the very first time in 11 years. But there is one big question hanging in the air: Yuzvendra Chahal, PBKS’ lead spinner, is he going to play today? He was forced to sit out the last one with DC with a minor niggle, a wrist issue, as per spin coach Sunil Joshi, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be featured today either. The hope remains for the team big time, though, that he’ll be fit for the playoffs.
In the absence of Chahal, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis came in against DC. Praveen Dubey also played as an Impact Player and bowled for two overs giving away 20 runs and taking the wicket of debutant Sediqullah Atal. Despite all these efforts, PBKS struggled to cope without Chahal, unable to defend a high total of 206 runs, finally losing the game in the last over.

Chahal has been an important player for PBKS this season taking 14 wickets in just 11 matches at an economy rate of 9.56. Those numbers aren’t so eye-popping, but he’s come through for PBKS in situations where it mattered most by clamping down on runs at crucial stages.
