Krishnamachari Srikkanth, a former cricketer from India, believes it’s time for Devon Conway to take Jamie Overton’s spot in the lineup, and he thinks Rahul Tripathi should make way for Anshul Kamboj. They’ve made some surprising choices early on, like moving captain Ruturaj Gaikwad down to No. 3 and opting for Deepak Hooda instead of Vijay Shankar.
Ravichandran Ashwin, who returned to Chennai for Rs 9.75 crore, had decent numbers with 1/31 in their win against the Mumbai Indians but hasn’t looked great since. He added that Ashwin could be more useful between the 7th and 18th overs, alongside Jadeja and Noor Ahmad, who can easily cover 10 overs. Although Ashwin is used to bowling under fielding restrictions with an economy of 7.13 in T20s, he’s had some rough outings lately.
In the game against the Rajasthan Royals, he gave away 46 runs in four overs but managed to take out a well-set Nitish Rana. Rana read Ashwin’s lengths well and scored freely, hitting sixes and boundaries. With Chennai’s next clash against the unbeaten Delhi Capitals coming up on Saturday, April 5, fans are hoping Ashwin will bounce back.
