The right-handed batter played all five matches for Men in Blue, and with the help of one century and one fifty, scored 218 runs. He stayed unbeaten on 100 runs against Pakistan in the Group A match played at Dubai on February 23, and in the semifinal against Australia, he scored 84 runs from 98 balls.
Most runs by an Indian in the Champions Trophy
He is India’s highest run scorer in the history of the event. He broke the record of 701 runs made by Shikhar Dhawan during his 84-run knock in the semifinal match against Australia on March 4. With this, Kohli now leads all Indian batsmen with 747 runs in 18 Champions Trophy matches, ahead of only West Indies great Chris Gayle (791) in the list of all-time run-scorers.

During the match played against Pakistan on February 23, Kohli became India’s most successful fielder in ODIs by surpassing Mohammad Azharuddin’s record of 156 catches. Seven catches during Champions Trophy 2025 brought his total tally to 161. Only Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene (218) has more catches than him in 50-over format.
1st Indian to score a century in CT against Pakistan
In fact, Kohli became the first Indian batsman to score a century in the Champions Trophy against Pakistan. This happened during the Group A match that was played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 23. Prior to Kohli’s innings, the highest score by an Indian batter in Champions Trophy against Pakistan was 91 by Rohit Sharma.

With another half-century against Australia in the semifinals, it became Kohli’s seventh 50-plus score in Champions Trophy history and his 24th 50-plus score across all ICC ODI events. At the same time, five other batters—Shikhar Dhawan, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Kane Williamson, and Rohit Sharma—have scored 50 or more runs six times each in the Champions Trophy.
3rd highest run-getter in international cricket
On February 23, Kohli overtook the record of 27,483 runs by Ponting, thus becoming the 3rd leading run-getter in international cricket. As per now, he has 27,599 runs in 550 matches played so far at the international level.
