The ECB Chief Executive, Richard Gould, stated: “It’s one of the best venues in world cricket, and every player dreams of being a part of a World Cup final at Lord’s.” He went on adding that this would be the biggest event ever in England and Wales in women’s cricket, with exciting new opportunities to engage with new fans.
The tournament gets under way on 12 June and consists of 33 matches over a period of 24 days. ICC chair Jay Shah said that the sold-out Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s in 2017 was a very pivotal moment for women’s cricket and couldn’t imagine a better ground for the final this time.
With these first eight countries, the final four will be decided next year through qualifications.
