After a rough IPL 2025 season, Mahendra Singh Dhoni returned to his home city of Ranchi, away from the glare. He was seen where he has the pleasure of spending some quiet moments fishing, and an image of him with his catch has been making rounds on social media. The picture has him in a black T-shirt that reads Duty, Honor, Country.
When asked about his future in IPL, Dhoni said, It depends. I’ve got four to five months to decide, there’s no need to rush. He said that he will go for some long bike rides in Ranchi once the season is over, which is ironically the first time CSK has ended at last in its 16-year history. Although they finished on a high, with an 83-run victory over Gujarat Titans, they had managed in total only four wins from 14 matches.

Dhoni disclosed how much effort one has to put into fitness to play in top cricket, Every year, it’s 15% more effort to keep the body fit. It’s not just about performance; it’s also about your hunger, fitness, and how much you can help the team. He thinks he has time to think things over, since he hasn’t been home for a long time, and he plans to chill for a couple of months before deciding anything.

The physical demand he admitted for the game. “I’m not done yet, but I’m not saying I’m coming back. I have time to think about it.” Dhoni played for every match this season for CSK and faced more balls this season than he had in previous two combined, but there were some critiques about that, with many thinking he came in too late during key moments.
