After fixing the date first for 13th May, now Mumbai Pradesh Cricket Association has announced a new date, that is, 16th May Friday at 4 PM IST for inaugurating the Rohit Sharma Stand at Wankhede Stadium. This change comes after the BCCI suspended IPL-2025 in view of the mounting tension along the India-Pakistan border.
To ensure the safety of all, the league was put on hold for a week. Thank God for the ceasefire; life is getting back on track, and IPL shall resume on May 17 with the match between RCB and KKR.
The Rohit Sharma Stand at Wankhede was decided on by the MCA during its yearly meeting held on April 15. Hogging the limelight for Mumbai cricket lords, Rohit is a worthy nod for his contribution to Indian cricket on either flank, be it as a player or a captain.
In an unusual twist, the announcement was made just days before Rohit himself announced retirement from Test cricket on 7th May, which came not long after the news on him being removed as Test captain.

At 38, Rohit’s Test career has been splendid, having scored 4,301 runs in 67 matches with a record of 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries with an average of 40.57. The inauguration at Wankhede Stadium will be the biggest celebration of Rohit Sharma’s journey in cricket.
