One major reason for doubt on the use of Decision Review System in the forthcoming T20 home series against Bangladesh is the cost attached to it. A source familiar with the working of the PCB told that the board felt there was very low interest in this series, which starts on Wednesday, so much so that the board just went ahead and scrapped DRS for this series.
Said a source: “It just wasn’t worth the money of the board or the broadcasters to put in DRS for this series.” It seems just several players of Bangladesh will not be making it as well. Mustafizur Rehman, the important left-arm fast bowler, will be missing out because of a thumb injury he sustained while playing in IPL.
Some more players and some support staff are withdrawing from the tour citing security reasons, putting Liton Das as captain for the matches. Bangladesh return to Pakistan having been through a tough time, having lost the T20 series with UAE 2-1, which isn’t exactly a confidence booster.

Incidentally, there was also no DRS during the second leg of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by the PCB and broadcasters, following some tensions at the border with India. All such factors are making what promises to be an interesting series, even minus the players and technology to make calls on the field.
