Before the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meets on July 24 in Dhaka, India’s cricket board (BCCI) is being firm. BCCI has said it won’t agree to any decision taken at the meeting unless the venue is changed due to safety and political concerns in Bangladesh.
This year’s Asia Cup T20 may cost Pakistan a lot. If the tournament doesn’t go as planned, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may lose around Rs.35 crore. PCB is expecting to make around Rs.264 crore (PKR 8.8 billion) from Asia Cup and its share from International Cricket Council (ICC) this year.
According to PTI, a reliable source said PCB is expecting to make around USD 25.9 million (PKR 7.7 billion) from ICC this year. Asia Cup is also expected to bring in another PKR 1.1 billion (around Rs.35 crore). For cricket to run in Pakistan, this money is crucial.
A PCB official said, The money from ICC and Asia Cup is very important for Pakistan cricket’s financial situation.
Now the fate of Asia Cup hangs in a balance. But BCCI has made it clear it won’t go to the meeting or accept any decision if it’s held in Dhaka. Other cricket boards of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Oman are also not keen to go to Dhaka.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi didn’t attend the ICC meeting in Singapore recently but PCB CEO Sumair Ahmed did. Still his efforts to get other boards to agree to go to the Dhaka meeting didn’t succeed.
This year Asia Cup is supposed to be played in T20 format but there is no official schedule or venue yet. Although many think it may be held in September but nothing has been confirmed.
