The Kolkata Knight Riders were the title champions of the IPL and have been inconsistent this year; however, they still have some chance of making it to the playoffs. It is, therefore, an absolute must-win scenario for them starting from May 17 against RCB.
Questions have arisen as to whether some overseas players will be back following the week-long IPL break. So far, Jamie Overton and Jake Fraser-McGurk have confirmed they would not be playing, but the others are still potential options.
Good news for KKR, though; considering that most of their foreign contingent is coming back, Quinton de Kock has gone from dubious to being quite confident about coming back. He will join the team on May 15 with Spencer Johnson also being cleared to compete, following some uncertainty. The only remaining player who is yet to confirm is Moeen Ali.
With two matches to go in the league stage, KKR stand at 11 points. They need to whack RCB and SRH by huge margins, plus some favorable results in other matches, to see them through to the playoffs. Quinton de Kock started off the first few matches with a fifty. Since then he has hit a rough patch, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz has replaced him and not exactly flourished so far. KKR may, therefore, be relying on the seasoned Quinton for this crucial game against RCB at Chinnaswamy.
