Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed to register a decent win over Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets. This win further builds on RCB’s great Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 record. As he has done before, Virat Kohli came to the fore by scoring his sixth half-century this season; this was pivotal in extending RCB’s unbeaten run away from home. After the match, former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar praised RCB’s bowling department. He took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his comments, while also pointing out that RCB has been rather successful in chasing down targets of late.
Manjrekar remarked that 4 of these 7 wins were achieved in the chase, with targets set at 174, 175, 157, and 162. He noted that now it’s the bowlers who seem to have been the real game-changer this season, saying, Their bowlers have made the real difference! This just goes to show how crucial their bowling attack has been in these matches.
Against Delhi on April 27, Krunal Pandya turned in a memorable performance and bagged the player of the match award. His impressive showing included not only effective bowling but also an astonishing 73 runs off 47 balls, seeing RCB home with 9 balls remaining. Earlier, RCB’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood had also delivered well in another 11 run victory against Rajasthan Royals. Hazlewood had the better of the two, with ICs of 4 and 33 in the match and a player of the match award.
RCB has now reached the top of the league table with a brilliant run this season. Of the 10 matches played, they have won 7. More importantly, they have lost all their matches at home, M Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB has 4 more matches to go in the group stage of IPL 2025 and will be taking on some tough opponents like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). While led by Rajat Patidar, the squad is set to come up against teams like Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings as they compete for playoff spots. It will be an exciting finish to the season as they try to book their place in the next stage of the tournament!
