A few days ago, there was a buzz online about Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. They were caught deep in conversation after the rain pushed back the start of the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). Fast forward to Sunday, and these two were at it again, chatting after RCB managed to snag a win over PBKS, but this time, the vibe felt a lot more intense.
The game was down to the wire. PBKS needed just five runs to win when Jitesh Sharma came to the crease. With a huge swing, he sent the ball flying over the deep midwicket for a six, clinching a seven-wicket victory for his team at home. This win was sweet revenge for RCB, especially since they had lost to the same team just a few days earlier back in Bengaluru.
After the game, Kohli, in his usual fashion, turned to Iyer—who captains PBKS—and celebrated pretty intensely, pumping his fists in the air. Iyer didn’t seem too pleased with Kohli’s enthusiasm as he approached his teammate for the traditional post-match handshake. The whole exchange looked quite tense, possibly reflecting the competitive spirit that both players share on the field.

Kohli had an impressive performance during the match, scoring 73 not out off 64 balls. He hit seven boundaries and a six, leading his team to chase down a target of 158 runs in just 18.5 overs. Thanks to this victory, RCB continues to shine on the road, boasting a perfect record with five wins out of five away games. However, not everything is rosy for them; they have unfortunately lost all three of their home matches so far this season.
Currently, under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, RCB sits in third place in the IPL 2025 standings, gathering 10 points over the course of eight matches. The table is quite crowded at the moment, as five teams are all tied with 10 points, with only the net run rate differentiating their positions. As it stands, PBKS is sitting just behind Kohli’s side in fourth place, while the Gujarat Titans are leading the pack, and the Delhi Capitals are just a notch below them.
