Virender Sehwag, the former batter for the Indian cricket team, didn’t hold back when he critiqued Glenn Maxwell and Liam Livingstone for their poor performance in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Both players have been struggling to make an impact, and on Sunday, their teams decided to let them sit out. For instance, Royal Challengers Bengaluru opted to bring in Romario Shepherd to take Livingstone’s place, and Maxwell hasn’t even played for the Punjab Kings in the last couple of matches.
Sehwag shared his thoughts, saying he feels these two players seem to lack any real drive to compete for their teams. He went so far as to say that it appears the IPL is more like a vacation for them rather than an opportunity to showcase their skills. I feel like Maxwell and Livingstone’s hunger is gone. Yeh yahaan holiday manane aate hai, holiday banaakar chale jaate hain, he said during a segment on Cricbuzz. He recalled that even though he’s spoken to many former players, only a handful of them really expressed a genuine desire to contribute to their teams.
When we look at the numbers, it’s easy to see why Sehwag feels this way. Maxwell has only managed to score 41 runs and has taken 4 wickets this season, while Livingstone’s tally stands at just 87 runs.
On a different note, Virat Kohli from Royal Challengers Bengaluru made headlines by surpassing Australian great David Warner to become the player with the most fifty-plus scores in the history of IPL. Kohli hit this milestone during a match against Punjab Kings at Mullanpur. He played an impressive innings, scoring 73 runs off 54 balls, which included seven fours and a six. This marked his fourth fifty in just eight matches this season, coming at a solid strike rate of 135.19.

Out of these innings, he has already notched up four half-centuries. His performances have been key for RCB, and fans are excited to see how he continues to play through the rest of the season.
