Rajasthan Royals coach Rahul Dravid is recovering from a leg injury he got during a cricket match, which has him using a wheelchair for now. On Tuesday, he shared a warm moment with some Kolkata Knight Riders players ahead of their match on Wednesday in Guwahati. Dravid, who is well-respected in Indian cricket, hurt himself while playing for the Vijaya Cricket Club.
Even though he’s sidelined, he’s still part of the team’s efforts, showing his usual toughness. The Royals will be looking for sharper leadership from Riyan Parag against Kolkata. Both teams are eager to bounce back after disappointing performances; KKR lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets, while the Royals faced a 44-run defeat from Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In both games, the batting and bowling just didn’t click for either team. The Royals might excuse their bowling struggles by saying they played on a tricky Hyderabad pitch, but the Knight Riders have no such excuse. Outside of Sunil Narine, none of their bowlers managed to contain the Bengaluru batsmen, and the struggles of the mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy might be causing some worry. Even on a pitch at Eden Gardens that had some grip, he received some help from Phil Salt and Virat Kohli.
Kolkata is also keeping an eye on Anrich Nortje’s fitness as he recovers from a back strain. If he gets the go-ahead from the physios, he’s likely to take Spencer Johnson’s spot. The middle-order batting fell apart for Kolkata after a strong start from captain Ajinkya Rahane and Narine, and they ended up with a score that wasn’t up to par.
