The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) is probably all set to resume again on either the 16th or 17th of May with the clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Lucknow. PTI reported on Sunday, May 11, that the match originally scheduled for May 9 is now being set for then. The source said, “All the teams were told to recall their players. The tournament shall resume on either the 16th or 17th of May in Lucknow. The final schedule will be confirmed tomorrow.”
It seems the remaining matches shall be held at four venues, Delhi and Dharamsala will see no more games. “Most likely, there will be matches only at four venues as the equipment has already been moved from the other places,” the source added.
The IPL 2025 was then put on hold for a week after, during the first innings of the 58th match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals on May 8, tensions between India and Pakistan started mounting. PTI notes that this match will not be replayed, with both teams getting one point each.
The seven teams—Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Super Giants—still have a shot at making the playoffs. GT and RCB need merely to win one out of the three remaining games to qualify, while PBKS could enter the playoffs after an 11-year gap by winning just one of their last two games. Wins in all their remaining matches would cement playoff spots for MI and DC, while KKR and LSG will have to depend on their performance and how other teams fare as well.
