Zaheer Khan, the former Indian left-arm fast bowler and current mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League, recently shared that he would feel honored to coach Team India. He mentioned this during a chat with Boria Majumdar at a CII event in Kolkata, as noted in a video by RevSportz on X.
After retiring in 2017, Zaheer spent two more years playing in the IPL and then took on coaching roles, starting with the Mumbai Indians before joining LSG as a mentor in 2024. He kicked off his international career in the ICC Knockout Cup back in 2000, where he gained attention for yorking Steve Waugh with his speed.
Zaheer stood out among Indian bowlers for his fast yorkers and ability to swing the ball. Over his career, he took 311 wickets in 92 Test matches and 610 wickets in a total of 309 international games for India. He was part of the team that won the 2011 World Cup and the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, which India shared with Sri Lanka.
In the IPL, he played for teams like the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Daredevils, featuring in 100 matches and taking 102 wickets with an economy rate of 7.59.
