Australia and Royal Challengers Bangalore left-arm spinner Sophie Molinuex has been ruled out of the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. She has been dealing with knee injury since the Women’s BBL last year. Molineux led the Melbourne Renegades to their maiden title despite having played only seven out of 11 games. Her injury became worse as Australia’s ODI series India followed right after the WBBL.
The WPL 2024 winner with the RCB played the second and third game of the series and bowled 11 overs. The two-time T20 World Cup winner missed the ODI series against New Zealand and has been ruled out of the ongoing Women’s Ashes. Australia’s physiotherapist Kate Beerworth had said in December that “further updates on an anticipated return date” for Molineux would be provided only after the surgery, which is supposed to take place this month.
The 26-year-old has been replaced by Charlie Deen, who is yet to play in the WPL. The England international, Deen has played 36 T20Is for England, and taken 46 wickets at a brilliant average of 18.19.
