Aakash Chopra, former India opener, has called out the Western media for the double standards they are applying to the pitch in the World Test Championship final at Lord’s. He said if 28 wickets had fallen in two days in India, there would have been cries of pitch tampering and India ruining Test cricket. But in England, the same pitch is being called sporting.
In the first innings, Australia was all out for 212 and South Africa managed 138. The game took some twists, South Africa fought back and reduced Australia to 144/8 by the end of the second day. Fast bowlers dominated the match, taking all but one wicket on a surface that offered plenty of movement.

Chopra said in a video, “If these 28 wickets had fallen in India, the Western media would have gone berserk about the pitch—complaining about how tough it is for batsmen. But when it happens in England, it’s just called a sporting pitch and the batsmen need to adapt their technique.Australia is leading by 218 runs in their 3rd innings with tailenders Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon at the crease, South Africa will be looking to take those last two wickets to win their first ICC title since 1998. Chopra added, “Australia has never lost at Lord’s when defending over 200 runs, but just because that’s the trend, it doesn’t mean it can’t change now.”
