Heinrich Klaasen made his IPL debut during the 2018 season on April 20, 2018. He donned Rajasthan Royals jersey against Chennai Super Kings in Pune.
Klaasen was brought in as a replacement for Steven Smith, who was banned due to his involvement in Sandpaper Gate.
The expectations were high from the South African batter, but Klaasen had a disappointing day as he fell for seven runs while opening the innings in a chase of 205 runs.
Klaasen scored a duck in the next match and was eventually dropped from the squad. He later came back into the squad towards the fag end of the season, playing two more matches.

In the IPL 2024, Heinrich Klaasen picked up from where he left off in the 2023 season. Klaasen started the season with a rapid 63-run knock, followed by an unbeaten 80 against Mumbai, helping Hyderabad score 277 runs.
Klaasen followed those knocks with quick cameos and a couple of more half-centuries. In all, the keeper-batter accumulated 479 runs in 15 innings at an impressive strike rate of 171.07. This was his best IPL season as a batter.

Heinrich Klaasen last featured in the IPL 2024 in the final match on May 26, 2024. He represented Sunrisers Hyderabad against Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai.
Despite putting up an incredible batting display throughout the season, Klaasen failed to score a valuable knock in the summit clash. He mustered 16 runs off 17 balls, including only one boundary.
Hyderabad’s batters were all out for 113 runs, which Kolkata chased down with ease to lift the trophy.

Heinrich Klaasen IPL Auction Price & History:
Heinrich Klaasen entered the IPL bandwagon ahead of the 2018 season. Rajasthan Royals brought him in as Steven Smith’s replacement at his base price of INR 50 lakhs.
Rajasthan released him after that season, and Klaasen moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Bengaluru) at the same price. But Klaasen’s fortunes changed in 2023, when Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him for INR 5.25 crore.
