Rishabh Pant injured his finger on the first day of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test match at Lord’s and that’s a big blow for India.
He got hurt on his left index finger while trying to stop a wide ball from Jasprit Bumrah in the 34th over. After getting treated by the team physio, he tried to continue but left the field after two more overs. Dhruv Jurel came in as wicketkeeper.
BCCI tweeted: Update: #TeamIndia vice-captain Rishabh Pant was hit on his left index finger. He is receiving treatment at the moment and is under the supervision of the medical team. Dhruv Jurel is keeping wickets in Rishabh’s absence.
Jurel did well as wicketkeeper while Pant got more treatment. He took a great catch to dismiss Ollie Pope off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling.
Nitish Kumar Reddy, who took two wickets today, was asked about Pant’s injury but had no news.

To be honest, I just came off the field and I don’t know anything about it, Reddy said. “I haven’t heard anything, but we will hear more tomorrow morning before we go back.
We don’t know if Pant will be able to keep wickets or bat later in the game. Jurel can keep wickets, but he can’t bat.
According to Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC)’s law 24.1.2: “A substitute shall not bowl or act as captain but may act as wicket-keeper only with the consent of the umpires.
A substitute can only bat or bowl if a player has a concussion. So, if Pant can’t play, India will have to play the Test match with one less batsman.
