Suryakumar Yadav was at an ICC hearing today after his comments made after the Asia Cup 2025 group stage match against Pakistan.
Surya had said the win was for the Indian armed forces and showed support to the families of Pahalgam terror attack victims. He was accompanied by BCCI COO Hemang Amin and Cricket Operations Manager Summer Mallapurkar. Richie Richardson was the one who conducted the hearing as the ICC had filed a complaint against Surya. He might get a warning or 15% of his match fees deducted.
Surya was at the ICC hearing today. BCCI’s COO and Cricket Operations Manager were with him. Richardson told him not to make comments that can be seen as political. We don’t know what the punishment will be. Since it’s a Level 1 offense, it can be a warning or 15% cut in match fees, a source said.

The Pahalgam terror attack where 26 people died had already soured the India-Pakistan relations. Surya didn’t shake hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha when the teams played each other in the Asia Cup 2025.
After their win on September 14, Surya commented on the Pahalgam situation.
We stand by the families of Pahalgam terror attack victims. We want to show our support. This win is for our armed forces, they are very brave. We hope they keep inspiring us and we’ll try to give them more reasons to smile whenever we can, Surya said after the match.
The ICC will also have a hearing on the BCCI’s complaint against Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for their gestures. Farhan acted like he was shooting a gun after scoring a half-century against India and Rauf made a ‘6-0’ gesture.
