Sunrisers Hyderabad did not make the elusive spots for IPL 2025 playoffs; the young opener, however, took full advantage of the opportunity to cement his status. The same 24-year-old became the first in IPL history to score 400-plus runs in back-to-back seasons and in doing so, also maintained a strike rate above 180 in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
“Yuvraj Singh has been a huge mentor for Abhishek,” shared Raj Kumar Sharma, Abhishek’s father. He further elaborated, saying, “Yuvraj has been a huge influence in the Abhishek journey. They worked very hard together, and Abhishek has worked so hard himself. I feel so proud of him. At the end of the day, performance speaks, and whoever performs moves forward.”
When asked about the SRH season’s struggles, he commented, “SRH is a good team. I don’t know why they couldn’t win more matches this year. They’ll be coming better prepared next year.”
SRH’s last outing witnessed a 278/3 blasting against KKR set up by an unbelievable 105* off 39 balls by Heinrich Klaasen, which included the fastest century of the season achieved in just 37 deliveries, and 84 explosive runs off 26 from Travis Head. It was the third highest total set in IPL history; however, KKR could not chase and lost by 110 runs.

They were all out for just 168 in 15.4 overs, with Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga, and Harsh Dubey sharing three wickets each. Klaasen was adjudged Player of the Match; however, SRH’s season was a little sour with Abhishek Sharma emerging as the one bright star from the already dismal campaign with his steady showing.
