After Chennai Super Kings lost to Rajasthan Royals by six wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, MS Dhoni shared some advice for young batters. He stressed the importance of staying true to themselves throughout their careers. In the post-match chat, Dhoni talked about how achieving consistency can be tough when aiming for a high strike rate but also said it’s essential to maintain consistent performance at the top level.
“You should always strive for consistency, which isn’t easy when you’re trying for a 200 strike rate. Batters need to believe in themselves. It’s crucial for young players to stay true to the way they played in their first season. Getting more consistent is key to growing as a batsman,” he said.
Young players like Ayush Mhatre from CSK and Vaibhav Suryavanshi from RR stood out in the game, contributing significantly to their teams’ batting efforts. Suryavanshi showed impressive maturity, scoring 57 runs off 33 balls, hitting four fours and four sixes to help set up a 188-run chase. Even though Yashasvi Jaiswal got out early, Suryavanshi seemed to be getting good guidance from his captain, Sanju Samson, as he worked through a tough part of his innings.

On the flip side, Mhatre started strong with 43 runs off just 20 balls but didn’t get enough support from his teammates, which has been a recurring issue for CSK this season. With Ruturaj Gaikwad missing, the team really struggled and is likely heading for a last-place finish.
Rajasthan, with this victory, wrapped up their campaign on a high note and will aim to improve next season to compete for the title again. One thing’s for sure: both Suryavanshi and Mhatre are set to play important roles for their teams in the future.
