The PSL is trouble-laden with the restart being around the corner, with opposition to Williamson returning to Pakistan from security concerns. The 16th edition of the PSL started off in Karachi on April 11 and had 37 foreign players.
May 8 would have seen Peshawar Zalmi take on Karachi Kings but was postponed in the wake of a drone attack near Rawalpindi Stadium last Thursday. Moving the tournament to the UAE was on the cards initially but got cancelled on Friday.
Former Australian player, Warner, revealed to the Sydney Morning Herald that he plans to head back to Pakistan to finish the season with Karachi Kings. From Pakistan as the source of news, it is being said that eight New Zealand players, including Williamson, are unwilling to return even with security guarantees in place.

With the ceasefire agreement in place, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced that the PSL would resume on May 17, with the final scheduled for May 25. “The PSL 2025 will be a continuation of where it left off, with six teams without any fear attached to it,” stated PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi on X. The remaining group matches will take place in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with playoffs and finals to be held in Lahore. On the other hand, the Indian Premier League will also restart this Saturday after postponement due to the India-Pakistan conflicts.
