India’s ex wicketkeeper-batter, Parthiv Patel, has brushed aside Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo, Hardik Pandya, and Andre Russell to choose a former West Indies star as the greatest all-rounder in the history of the Indian Premier League. Kieron Pollard is the top all-round IPL player says Parthiv, who featured in twelve IPL seasons for six teams—Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Deccan Chargers, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Asked during a Cricbuzz event to choose the top IPL all-rounder, the Gujarat-born former Indian cricketer now serving as an expert and commentator proceeded with his former MI teammate.
From 2010 to 2022, Pollard featured for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Pollard scored 3412 runs and took 69 wickets during his 13-year career as a player with the IPL’s richest club cricket league.
Along two Champions League trophies in 2011 and 2014, he was the MI team member that won five IPL crowns in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. The second most runs scorer for the franchise based in Mumbai in the world’s wealthiest franchise cricket league is the former captain of the West Indies; he has also captained them in six games.
Pollard will once again take over the duties of batting coach for Mumbai Indians before the 2023 season after calling end on his IPL playing career; this year will have him back in charge.
Mumbai will open its campaign on Sunday, March 22 in Chennai in the 2025 edition of the IPL, which is ready to start on March 22 in Kolkata. MI will meet arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings in the opening game at MA Chidambaram Stadium before travelling to Ahmedabad on March 29 to play Gujarat Titans in the second league stage match. On March 31, Mumbai Indians will have their first home game of IPL 2025 against current title defenders Kolkata Knight Riders.
With players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma, Will Jacks, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, among others, Hardik Pandya will captain the Ambani-owned franchise in IPL 2025.
