Royal Challengers Bengaluru is set to take on Rajasthan Royals for the second time in this season of the Indian Premier League within a span of a couple of weeks. RCB are still in pursuit of their first home victory of the season, whereas RR haven’t won a match in two weeks. Historically, ever since the return of Rajasthan to the IPL in 2018 after a two-year ban, the same team has usually dominated all matches of a season against RCB. So the home team would surely fancy its chances of finally turning the table.
For Rajasthan, on the other hand, it will be interesting to see if they can smash this obscure record and continue RCB’s terrible form in their own backyard.
Apart from the match, fans are going to be witnessing several players reach personal milestones:
2000 Runs in IPL
Yashasvi Jaiswal of the Royals needs 86 runs to become the player with 2000 runs in the IPL. Since his debut in 2020, he has scored 1914 runs at an average of 33 and a strike rate of 148.71. With Jaiswal aiming to step up and make a statement with captain Sanju Samson out, he will look to crack on Thursday.
100 Fours in IPL
RR’s stand-in captain Riyan Parag is currently just two more fours away from once again reaching the 100-fours mark in IPL. He has 98 fours and 74 sixes in 66 innings, so the likelihood of reaching the milestone on his debut T20 match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium looks high.
50 Sixes in IPL
RCB’s Phil Salt needs three more sixes for him to reach 50 in the IPL. So far, in his third season, he has managed to smash 47 sixes in 29 innings, with only Faf du Plessis and Sunil Narine ahead of him in terms of six-hitting among the foreign opening bats.
50 Fours in IPL
Royal Challengers’ Tim David needs just one more four to reach fifty in the league. With already having 50 sixes this season, he is confident to hit at least one four in the next game.
