The Mumbai Indians fast bowler Trent Boult showered praise on Rohit Sharma describing him as world-class and went ahead to state how crucial he will be to the team in its quest for a sixth title in the IPL. Rohit seems to have recently found his form again, scoring half-centuries one after another at the right time.
Boult played a vital role in their previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad as he took 4 wickets while conceding only 26 runs. This important contribution made it possible for Mumbai Indians to win the game by their fourth consecutive winning streak. After Sunrisers collapsed and could only make 143 runs, MI won by 15.4 overs with an impressive 70 runs by Rohit from 46 balls. Besides boosting morale, the win contributed to the net run rate and moved the team to the third position in the table.
The praise was dished amid a post-match interaction by Boult for the entire squad of Mumbai Indians. We’ve got some world-class players, and Rohit doesn’t need any introduction. He said, Everyone wants to chip in when they can, and Rohit’s doing a fantastic job right now, especially when we need it most. He’s going to be a key player for us going forward in the season. He mentioned the need to stay flexible and prepared for whatever role comes up, showing that teamwork is essential in this long tournament.
The greatest cricketers of this era hail Boult for his brilliance and also showered costly accolades on Hardik Pandya leadership. He said that Hardik is a passionate cricketer, very skillful and has great communication skills. He leads from the front, and he’s one of my favorite Indian players. A great experience is playing under him.
This change from his previous team, Rajasthan Royals, to Mumbai Indians has not been tough for Boult. He observed the significance of adjusting in a tournament like the IPL, where you can have so frequent changes in strategy. In Rajasthan, I was pretty much prepared to bowl at any time. After ten years of IPL I know that nothing is ever the same. It’s all about wanting the ball at all times, Boult mentioned. He added that a talent like Jasprit Bumrah makes it even better when he gets to bowl along with him.
Though they started off quite shakily with just one win in the first five matches, Mumbai has picked up and won with four matches consistently now, bringing them closer to a playoff spot. Boult, though, does not get ahead of himself. We struggled at the beginning, but we turned it around and concentrated on getting those wins to build some momentum and rhythm. The guys are playing good cricket at key moments, but we will not think too far ahead. He added that he’s actually very eager to return home and play in familiar conditions, although there’s still a lot of water to flow this season.
