Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are one of the few teams who have been part of the Indian Premier League since the very start in 2008. But they have yet to win the title until now in the 17th season. That’s where RCB are desperate to win the title in the IPL 2025. But before that, they need to work out on many things.
The IPL 2025 will have a mega auction, and a franchise can only retain four players. RCB captain Faf du Plessis, who is 38 years old, has the age factor, and there is some news that the franchise might release him. That means RCB will look to start their search for the new captain. Hence, what can be the option for the franchise in the IPL 2025? Here, we will talk about the three players who can lead RCB in the IPL 2025.
Three Players who can lead RCB in the IPL 2025
3. Rajat Patidar
Rajat Patidar joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2021 as a replacement. But he made a strong impact with the team, and the franchise retained him in 2022. He has been a key player for the franchise now and has played some match-winning innings in the past.
He has played 24 innings for RCB and scored 4799 runs at a strike rate of 158.36, with one century and seven half-centuries. Patidar is likely to be retained by the franchises ahead of the IPL 2025. And because he has become a core player now, the franchise can take the bold decision to give him the captaincy if they release Faf du Plessis.

2. KL Rahul
KL Rahul made his IPL debut in 2013, and his first franchise was RCB. Then he played two seasons for them in 2016 and 2017. Rahul has played 19 games for RCB and scored 417 runs with four half-centuries. He himself has said many times, and he wants to play again for RCB. Now, there are some rumours that KL Rahul might part ways with Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2025 and join RCB.
And if he can join the team, he is likely to lead the team as well. Because he can be an ideal replacement for Du Plessis. He can lead the team and open the innings and is also a keeper, as Dinesh Karthik has retired now.

1. Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has been part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru since the very first season. He is the face of the franchise, so they will retain him without doubt. Virat left the captaincy in 2021, and he led the team for the first time in 2011. Under him, RCB made it to the 2016 final but unfortunately lost the game. Overall, Virat Kohli has led the team in 143 games and won 66 of them, losing 70.
He has a win ratio as RCB captain of 46.15. Virat led the team in 2023 in the absence of Du Plessis in a few games. So, if the franchise can convince him, then there are chances that we might see Virat the captain once again. Now that he has retired from T20I, he can focus properly on the IPL and his captaincy
