Delhi Capitals‘ think tank should be weighing their next action following Harry Brook’s withdrawal from the 2025 Indian Premier League. The Englishman said he wants to concentrate on representing his country, therefore putting franchise cricket aside.
Significantly, Brook also withdrew from the 2024 event. Brought in by the Capitals in the mega auction, he is now scheduled to miss his second straight season, hence running the risk of being IPL prohibited.
Three players DC can bring in as Brook’s replacement as he exits the cash-filled show.
1. Dewald Brevis
Dewald Brevis, formerly of Mumbai Indians and one of South Africa’s up-and-coming stars, went unsold at the huge auction of IPL 2025. Helping MI Cape Town to secure their first-ever trophy, he had a major part in S20 2025.
At an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 184, he hit 291 runs during the competition. Renowned for his capacity to complete the games down the order, Brevis might be a key element of the batting line of DC’s.
Brevis is in good form and would be a great option for Delhi Capitals to consider.
2.David Warner
David Warner, the former opening batsman for Australia, had two runs at DC. First between 2009 and 2013 and more recently between 2022 and 2024. Having nearly 140 strike rate, Warner has over 2,500 runs for Delhi and is the fourth highest run-getter in IPL history with 6,565 runs.
The franchise kept him and the IPL 2025 auction saw no team purchase him. Should DC seem interested in the 38-year-old, Warner will have to choose between competing for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Karachi Kings and the IPL since the events coincide.
3.Daryl Mitchel
Given his standing in world cricket and his continuous play in recent years, Daryl Mitchell seems a front runner to take over Harry Brook. He can hit any place in the batting order, and it is the versatility of his several gears of batting that distinguishes him.
Brilliant in T20Is in 2024, Daryl Mitchell scored his runs with excellent consistency and a strike rate practically 160. Furthermore, he has the talent of working under pressure, and he did well for CSK in IPL 2024, hitting 318 runs in 13 innings. With an average of 28.90 and a strike-rate of 142.60, he scored his runs; he can also help with his bowling if called upon.
