Before the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals encounter could get underway in Dharamsala in IPL 2025, there was chatter amongst media persons that players would be traveling to Delhi or somewhere else by train. But here’s an update: For security reasons, Indian Railways cannot carry the players from Pathankot to Delhi, and therefore, the players will travel by road.
Following this, close to 2:00 p.m., came the cancellation of the game on the very first day at HPCA Stadium after just 10.1 overs of play when the military tensions between India and Pakistan were on the rise. Drone strikes from Pakistan caused power outages in neighboring places like Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. At around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, the first of the four floodlights went dark, and soon it went pitch black on the field, with players and umpires heading to the dressing room as the other three lights started to fade away.

The spectators were communicated to leave the stadium quietly, and the local authorities, along with the HPCA, managed well. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal was also seen requesting fans to leave the stadium. The players and officials reached their hotels without any hassle.
Due to the raging tensions, the future of IPL 2025, consisting of 12 league matches and playoffs, finally hangs by a thread. It is awaited if the tournament will continue at the agreed upon time after a meeting with senior BCCI officials and further guidance from the government.
